What specifically can I do to heal my acid-producing cells and my digestive enzymes, so I can successfully cycle off of long-term use of supplemental digestive enzymes and Betaine HCL?

Additional Details: It was mentioned taking digestive enzymes and Betaine HCL short-term is good to give the digestive system a break to heal (like in phase one). I had a nutritionist put me on both about 3-4 years ago, and now I can't eat without them otherwise I bloat, have pain, have undigested food, and have loose stools. I've read that organs/cells can take supplementation as a sign they aren't needed and shut down. I am concerned I won't be able to "jump start" them now, or that maybe my ability to create HCL or enzymes is permanently damaged. My need for HCL has increased over time, and I take on average 5,600 mg of HCL with nearly every meal.

This can certainly happen with extended use. You train your body to stop making them, because you are giving them to your body. Once you heal in GT5, you are training your body to be able to make them again. Chewing your food until liquid is likely the #1 most important thing to produce your own carbohydrate-digesting enzymes again. The spices in this program will train your pancreas to make its own enzymes again (digest protein), and as the liver/gallbladder strengthens with the desiccated liver and turmeric you should have better fat digestion. You can slowly titrate off enzymes as long as you eating live, fresh food that contains its own enzymes and are chewing well. For the HCL— you should look into doing the HCL challenge referenced in session 5, because it will train your body to make HCL on its own again after using so much of it. After the HCL challenge, ACV and the ginger pickle are the food-based ways to do it. How wonderful to have this opportunity to give your body its self-sufficiency back!
